So, Sunday the 14th December we finally left Paris. I got a lift with a guy in a Renault 4 and Danielle got a lift in a Simca Matra! It was very difficult getting lifts out of Paris, so we decided to hitch separately, aiming for Geneva. Fortunately we both arrived there by the evening, and we spent the night in the Geneva youth hostel.
The next day we walked around Geneva but it was cold and deserted. Everything is closed on Monday mornings, so eventually we caught a train to Lausanne and so we were back in Lutry again with Michelle and John-Pierre.
We spent some more time with the Morels, Danielle mostly at home and me working with John-Pierre making posters. Money we'd arranged arrived from my mum on Tuesday morning at the last minute. Altogether we had about 3,600 SFr (approx. $1,000 AUS) for the rest of our journey.
As they were spending Christmas with John-Pierre's family, we were turfed out on Christmas morning, however they did give us a lift to Montreux.

From Montreux we hiked to the auto route and got a lift 15 km down the road to Aigle. We had our thumbs out for about one hour but not much available on Christmas Day so we headed for a cafe due to the coldness.
